Two persons were yesterday beaten to a pulp at Etitnabo Ezihu village, Igboukwu in Anambra State for allegedly attempting to steal artifacts in a shrine.
The attempt to steal the crafts believed to be the representatives of gods in the village shrine was resisted by the angry youths of the village who went after the hoodlums.
The suspects in an attempt to escape shot sporadically into the air to scare the youths away, but the people chase after the suspects who were later arrested.
The youths stripped the suspects and gave them a serious beating.
An indigene, Oge Okpala, told Cornerstone news that:” We felt insulted. We cannot take it likely with anyone who wants to disgrace our gods.
The suspects were well prepared because they were armed with guns. They were shooting at us, but they later ran out of bullets and we overpowered them.
We have handed them over to Ekwulobia police station”
