Uzoho will be well replaced, Says Alloy Agu

Super Eagles Goalkeepers trainer Alloy Agu, Says there’s no cause for alarm after first choice goal-keeper Francis Uzoho picked up an injury that has ruled him out of Nigeria’s all important 2019 AFCON qualifier clash with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Uzoho who replaced Carl Ikeme as the Super Eagles first choice shortly before the World Cup in Russia got injured while on duty for his Club Elche on Sunday.

The club confirmed he will be sidelined for four weeks which means he will miss Super Eagles clash with South Africa in Johannesburg and Crane of Uganda in Asaba.

However, Alloy in an exclusive interview with brila.net’s Oluwaseyi Alao said the technical crew aren’t happy with the injury and hope he can recover quickly.

“Its sad because we want all our players to be in good shape, not only goal-keeper and we hope he can come back quickly from the injury”.

The former Super Eagles safe-hand continued that Nigeria has good goal-keepers that are capable of replacing the 19-year old Uzoho.

“We have good goal-keepers who can do the job for us, there’s no need for us to be panic, the situation is under control”.

Alloy added that a replacement is expected to be named and confirmed that the Super Eagles coaches rated Enyimba’s Theophilos Afelokhai highly.

“There will be a replacement, We are on it, before the end of the week, we will know the person coming in.”

“We have never overlooked Afelokhai, we rate him highly and he was in the team with me to Chan”.

“He will have his chance in the team, we are discussing his situation”. He concluded.
