Okpotu ready to extend Us Munastair stay despite transfer rumors

US Monastir forward Anthony Okpotu says he is not desperate to leave the Tunisian club for another adventure to Europe.

Okpotu who has played for Lobi Stars in the Nigerian professional football league insists he would continue his development in Tunisian Ligue 1.

The 26-year-old was named the best foreign player in the division following his impressive goal record of 13 goals for the US Monastir.

“The first thing as a player is to work hard and let your work speaks for you. I am not in any way in a haste to leave the US Monastir for Europe,” Anthony Okpotu said.

“It’s one thing to leave a team and just earn peanut while it’s thought that you are earning well. So why should one not just focus on improving on the game, get more playing time at my current club and hopefully the right opportunity will come.

“Well, that’s my approach to the game and I believe it is important to let one’s work speak than otherwise.

Okpotu has played for Lobi Stars, Laçi, El Jedidiah and Al-Ittihad Tripoli before joining US Munastair and made his debut for the home-based Super Eagles in 2018.
