Super Falcons need miracle to survive World Cup Group – Okon

Former coach of Nigeria’s women national team Edwin Okon has stated that the qualification of the Super Falcons of Nigeria from the group stage at the ongoing FIFA women’s world cup in France will be down to miracle following the team’s opening 3-0 loss to Norway.

Okon who took the team to the FIFA women’s world cup 4 years ago in Canada told www.Cornerstonenewsng.comthat the Super Falcons will be under serious pressure going into their next game against an equally good Korea and a very tough French women national team.

He added that the girls should notwithstanding forge ahead and try to create a miracle.

“To lose their first match, the pressure on the team will be so high. So the possibility of them coming out of the group stage I think it’s only the Almighty God that can save them because the tension that is in the team now on how to come out of the group stage and the people that we are going to play against are not pushover Korea and France. I think they should forge ahead and see if they can come out of the group stage.”

Nigeria’s women national team will next face South Korea who also lost their opening fixture 4-0 to France on matchday 1.
