Former Super Eagles left back Ifeanyi Udeze has defended the decision of Super Eagles technical Adviser Gernot Rohr to drop Captain and Boro’s midfield maestro John Mikel Obi from the team to face Seychelles.
Speaking on Tuesday morning via 88.9 Brila FM, the former West Brom defender said he believes that the Super Eagles skipper needs some time to settle in at the Riverside.
“We should not prompt the Coach to rush Mikel back into the Eagles squad, he’s just getting into a new club and he will need time to adjust perfectly”, Udeze told brila FM.
Meanwhile, the World Cup defender also stressed that the Coach must have been in a constant communication with his captain before making the decision.
The Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr on Monday released a 23-man squad for their final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Seychelles on March 23.
All invited players alongside technical and backroom crew, are to report in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on March 18, 2019.
