West Ham Fires Pellegrini, his Protege Iheanacho had a hand in It

English Premier League side West Ham United have sacked their Manager, Manuel Luis Pellegrini Ripamonti following a string of poor results this season with the latest being a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City.

Pellegrini, 66, was midway through his three-year contract, having joined the club in May of 2018.

West Ham have won just one of their last five league matches and are one point above the drop zone in 17th position after Saturday’s defeat to Leicester.

The tone for Pellegrini’s fate was pretty much set by his protégé, Kelechi Iheanacho, whom he gave his first senior team football in England four seasons ago at Man City.

Per Richard Jolly [The Guardian], Kelechi Iheanacho scored in Manuel Pellegrini’s last game as Manchester City manager and his last game as West Ham manager.

The Nigerian opened scoring for the Foxes (40′) at the London Stadium, but Pablo Fornals gave the hosts some respite before the break.

But, in the 56th minute the visitors restored their lead through Demarai Gray and managed to hold on that time around for all three points.

The Hammers confirmed the immediate sack of their Manager after the game.
